OVERVIEW

This year Australia and more importantly Queensland and more importantly Brisbane will be hosting the 2010 Beach Football World Cup.

This will be a massive event with 32 teams playing pool play and all the knock-out rounds until a winner is crowned. Beach Soccer is played with a goal-keeper and three outfield players with a maximum of four substitutes (There is no limit on coming on and off the pitch).

Please note: Games are 2 x 9 minute halves
8 groups of 4 will battle it out in the group stages, every team will play every other team in their group once with the top two ranked teams going through to the knock-out rounds. From then on it's do or die.

The competition will kick off at 10am with finals starting at approximately 5pm.

During the day we will have a bbq lunch and afternoon tea/dinner, there is a fully licensed bar which will be open all day (thank god).

PRIZES

The 2010 Beach Football World Cup Winners:
3 cartons of beer, 1 bottle of spirits, tickets to a roar home game
+ An official non-official World Cup trophy.... the thing looks ridiculously cool...

The 2010 Beach Football - Player Of The Cup:
1 x carton of beer or bottle of spirits + Free Jersey of which ever team they support.

The player of the cup will be judged like this:
At the end of every game, every player will have to nominate a player of the opposing team as the player of the match - at the end of the comp we will tally the votes & obviously the player with the most votes wins.

ENTRY INFORMATION

There is a $240 per team entry fee (4-8 players.... Your choice) this gets you a minimum of 3 games (Up to 7 if you make the final) Each player will also get there first burger at lunch or dinner time free as well as a free drink (Soft drink, beer, rum, burbon) and a memento World Cup key ring.

When you register please advise your first 3 priority national teams, it is first in best dressed so if you nominate a team that has already been registered you will be given your 2nd priority.

Beach Club

Every week over 1000 people of all ages and skill levels play sports at Sandstorm Beach Club. Beach sports are fun, low impact and played in a great social atmosphere. With over 50 grades on offer over 3 sports – beach volleyball, beach touch and beach netball, you’ll definitely find a sport and grade to suit you!

The Beach Club also have volleyball coaches to help first time players all the way through to aspiring World Tour competitors. Club members also enjoy coming to events so check it out! Based at Australia’s biggest sand pit, Sandstorm is the ultimate beach venue just 15 minutes south of Brisbane CBD. We’ve run wildly successful events from anything involving kids birthday parties, sports tournaments, radio promotions, corporate days, team building to even an Egyptian themed theatrical play (don’t ask). Court construction

Our philosophy is that there can never be too many beach volleyball courts! So our construction team are building them in Australia and internationally. Sandstorm are the world leaders in the expertise required to build and service anything from just one court to a whole venue – and we have the track record to prove it.
